8.22.2014

Beau is 6 months old. Happy half birthday my love. He is such a joy to have in our family. Can't believe he is 6 months old already but yet he feels like he has always been with us. He just fits in so well.
6 months stats from his well check:
21.5 pounds (96%)
28 inches long (94%)

The doctor we saw today, doctor Song, was impressed with his stats and his strong leg muscles. She already warned me that he may be pulling up soon and to get ready to lower his crib. I think she thinks he will be a climber because he is so strong.
He is such a happy baby. He has started squealing when he is excited. He loves for his brothers to pay him any attention, he just lights up all over.
He takes his baths in the big tub now. He loves this part of the day. He is a big splashier. And I mean big. The bathroom floor and I are usually soaked when his bath is done.
He is in size 4 diapers.
He has lunch and dinner. A veggie and a fruit at each meal. He gets a little cereal in his food and vitamin D is snuck into his dinner somehow each night.
He has started gagging some with certain textures/flavors. This makes me fearful that we may be headed towards a sensory problem like Henry.  The doctor today suggested working on more table foods around 8 months. But not to worry until then.
He started daycare last week. He has adjusted better than I expected him too. He always seems happy when I leave him and when I pick him up. He has yet to cry at a drop off so that makes me feel good. And Henry loves being the big brother at school.
Still doesn't roll over either way. Oh well.
He can sit up unsupported.
Loves playing on the floor while sitting especially if his brothers are playing with him.
Sleeping at night isn't going so well. He is getting up a lot for pacifier and crying out in his sleep. Occasionally I have to feed him to get us through the night.
He takes 6-7 oz in his bottles at school.
He is still solely breastfed. 😊
He is busting out of his 9 month clothes. He was in them for such a short time I feel like he skipped that size.
Still loves his momma the most.
Loves to snuggle.
Can grasp and put things in his mouth. Not with punchers yet.
Wakes up happy with a smile on his face.

Here are some 6 month pics.

Feeling adventurous with a cracker. Get in my belly he says. But then gags on any solid piece that makes it in his mouth.

Kindergarten

Today came. Amazingly fast. Can't believe my oldest is old enough for kindergarten. This is huge for me. Not only because he started school, but also because kindergarten is what I do. And he is now a part of another major aspect of my life. We now have another thing in common. A way for us to strengthen our bond. He sees me in a different role at school. A teacher, not just a mother. But I'm also excited for my students to see me as a mother. I'm looking forward to this year strengthening my teaching abilities because I am now on the other side of the door too. The first day of school is huge. I understand why those mommas stand at my door with crocodile tears wanting one last hug before they leave. They have no idea that the 2nd day of school is even harder. I'm thankful I had my own class to get to otherwise I would have been that momma that wouldn't leave, taking an obnoxious amount of pictures. So I was only able to take a few. And that didn't leave time for either one of us to get upset. We will see what tomorrow brings. I know the 2nd day tired all too well.
As we were getting ready to leave somehow I said something that prompted Luke to say this. "This is the beginning of school until I go to college." And I had no idea he knew that. Maybe I had mentioned it, maybe his dad or grandparents. Who knows. But it shows he has an idea what he's in store for.

I'm so excited to see how he grows socially, academically, emotionally, and even in maturity. This is a big year of change. I couldn't be happier to be there for everyday of it. He has a great teacher that loved him before he was even in her class. He is going to have so much fun.

Luke before his day got started.

Henry, refusing to wake up.

Beau. Happy to see mommy every morning!

Mrs. White helping Luke make his lunch choice. He wants to bring his lunch for now. But if he wants to experience school lunch I'm okay with that. We will see. (See the left hand muscles concentrating on the right hand pinching his clip. 😉 that will improve this year)

He made it. Great day! His favorite part was recess! How did I know!

Pictures daddy left on the door.

Tubes

Finally. After 7 consecutive months of 7 ear infections, Luke has finally gotten tubes. His adenoids were tiny, the doctor said, so those were not taken out. We are hoping for no more, or at least fewer ear infections. He did great with the procedure which was extremely fast. The hardest part was waiting for the doctor to begin. The first few days after he had a little pain during bath time but other than that he hasn't complained. The hope is for the tubes to stay in for about a year and then fall out on their own.
Just arrived.

Dressed and ready. Just waiting for the doctor.

All done. Waiting for the sleepy medicine to wear off.

Swimming

The summer is ending quickly on us so we are trying to make the most of it. Today we joined some friends at their pool. I'm thankful my boys, all 3, love the pool. I grew up with daily outings to the pool in the summer, now I understand why...have fun and wear them out!

I couldn't resist the matching bathing suits.

Two more

Luke lost two more teeth this week. His top two. He is such a cutie too. And his new teeth are already showing. He lost them at Anny and Papa's house. The first one came out while eating cereal and he pulled the other one out. So glad to have them out because he gets tubes Monday. The tooth fairy brought him a dollar for each tooth and he can't wait to get to the junk store to spend it.

Hair

I don't know why, but Beau loves it when my hair is down. (Which is not often) He usually gets two fists full and plays with it or rubs his face in it and snuggles. Of course I don't mind a bit. ;)

Moving

Henry told us tonight he was moving out and he was taking Beau with him.

So in the box he went.

Don't worry, they were only pretending. 😊
