1 year old check up (@ 13 months)

We went for our one-year-old check up today. I am always excited to go to the pediatrician for "well" check ups because we learn how much our big boy has grown! This time, Luke is
28.38 pounds (95.91 percentile)
31.75 inches in length (89.91 percentile)
19.29 inches head circumference (96.4 percentile)
The four shots in his thunder thighs and toe stick were a little rough this time but he handled it well. He still is limping some on his leg and hisitant to use it at times but the doctor did not see the need for more x-rays. She has asked us to update her in another week on his leg abilities. Other than that, things looked great!

Another date for Luke and Anna

I feel like everytime I create a new blog post, I post too many pictures! But it is so hard to pick and choose! And these two are such cuties I just can't help myself!! This time we met at Aunt RayRay's house. Thanks Rachael for hosting our play date! Next time we need to include Rachael in all these pictures!

Chit-chatting

Luke's new thing is talking on the phone. None of what he says makes any sense but he is very serious about his conversations. In the pictures below, he was having a pretend conversation with Thomas on our cell phones (the phones were not on)When he is doing this he walks and paces around our house (or wherever we are at the time) while he jibber jabbers. And, if you stop talking on your phone, he stops too.

Sheriff Luke

Update

Several people have asked for an update on Luke so here goes. :) He is doing much better! He is walking (most of the time) but with a shorter stride and slower pace. If he is tired or sore, I assume, he crawls. It seems to be worse in the early morning and in the late evenings. But overall, he is doing much better! If things continue to improve, we will not have to revisit the doctor.

On a different note, Luke has three more teeth coming in! Right now he has the 8 teeth in front as well as one molar (bottom right). The three that have peeked through his gums are the top right molar, bottom left molar and bottom right canine tooth. Wow that will make 12 teeth! I feel like they came so fast! And since the molars have started, we haven't had a full night sleep!

X-Ray

Today Luke had his first x-rays! Big bummer but his doctor ordered them after seeing him this morning. Thank goodness the x-rays didn't show a brake but he does have a sprain. Sunday late afternoon he hurt his foot/ankle at the park. Thomas and I couldn't see anything wrong with it (no swelling or bruising) but he couldn't walk or stand on it and every time he tried he would buckle at the knees and fall on the ground crying. So we gave him through the night last night thinking he would be a bit better this morning but he woke up with pain. So off to the doctor we went. He did really well with the x-rays and laid still like a big boy. He was in good spirits all day, trying to talk to everyone in the waiting room. The doctor suggested Motrin and if he doesn't start using his leg by Thrusday she wants to see him again. Already tonight though he was trying to walk on it but he has a limp. Can't wait for our baby to be back to normal! Although I like the extra snuggle time! Here we are in our pj's relaxing before bed time.

Boston Boys

First hair cut!

We finally broke down and decided to get Luke's first hair cut. It was a hard decision to make but now that we see the results, it was a good decision! His hair was getting to sloppy looking and was hard to control! We took him to Snip-Its, a hair salon for kids only. The hair salon was brightly decorated and entertaining. Luke did really good until the very end when the stylist finished him off with electric clippers. Even though they were silent, the vibrations scared him so he started crying!

Happy New Year!

We had a great 2009 and have a lot to be thankful for! Hope everyone has a terrific 2010! I know we will!
