Portraits from the Past

This picture was taken in 1984. The Aiken Standard, my hometown newspaper, dug this out of their archives and published it in their paper this week. The section is called "Portraits from the Past". What sweet memories in Crossland Park. Mom says she wished she had woken up Patrick for the picture, he was around 8 or 9 months old. We used to help dad put out the American Flag every morning.

On another note, poor Christian, who bought you those shorty shorts and made you wear them? Sweet cheeks!

And thanks Bess Ann for sending it to me!

Downtown Airport

In an attempt to keep summer exciting but to stay indoors during the heat, we went to Greenville's downtown airport for lunch and some airplane watching. On first arrival both boys went straight to the fence to catch their first upclose looks of the airplanes "parked". So exciting!
We drug Anny along for the ride too!

This is what Luke and Henry are looking at in the pictures above. This man was gasing up and shortly after took off. (However we missed his take off.)

This is where we ate!

watching airplanes from inside

We saw this one take off.
More planes!

so excited!

Artist

I love doing crafts in the summer (well all the time but summer time is when i can stay up late to get them done)! Luke has caught the crafting bug! I had an extra canvas and saw this cute idea on Pinterest so when Henry went down for his morning nap one day this week, Luke made this beautiful creation! He was very into it and I was very surprised at how well he follwed directions. His one direction, cover the white. He chose his colors (with a little encouragment) and chose where to put his paint on the canvas. He was so proud of himself and kept saying while he was painting that "daddy is going to be so proud of me".

 The finished product!
When it was dry and ready to be hung I let him choose where in his room to hang it. (I had to discourage hanging it in the den under the light switch by the front door and he also wanted to hang it above the wall outlet by our TV) As a teacher you are taught to always hang things on childrens' eye level. He chose this place, which I never would have though of b/c he has another piece of framed art above it but I think it looks great! He has loved showing it off to all of our visitors! So proud of my artist!

Sprinkler

This is one way to stay cool during these hot summer days! Rachael and Chris and Adaline gave Henry a fun water toy for his birthday! Today we put it to the test and BOTH boys LOVED it! Think we will be using this all summer!
At first Luke tried to slide by the edges...

but Henry went straight for the water!
